Blogging Cheesemakers
The first is from LittleFfarm Dairy, a start-up artisan goat cheese maker in South West Wales, UK. Their blog is a daily journal, tracking their progress as they start the business with a herd of pedigree British Toggenburg goats. I don't know how these folks have the time to raise goats, make cheese, AND blog, but I'm glad they do, because the blog really adds a personal dimension to their operation that you don't get with too many other dairies. The other blog, So You Want To Be A Cheesemaker, is a brand new offering from Kara Kasten, a fifth year senior (didn't know they had such things) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning a degree in Dairy Science and Life Science Communication. In her blog, Kara is journaling about her apprenticing experience at Wisconsin's Babcock Dairy Plant. The apprenticeship is a required step for anyone looking to be a licensed Wisconsin cheese maker (the state requires all cheese makers to be licensed). The blog only has four entries so far, so catching up is easy. It'll be fun to read Kara's entries as she learns the ins and outs of industrial cheese making.

i'm a cheesemakin' blogger! :)
I'm relatively new both to cheesemaking and blogging...in fact, I stumbled upon your blog because I'm a troller myself just looking to see what others are blogging about in the cheesemaking realm! My blog's called the dairy princess diaries; I just returned to the family farm in California after working in the magazine industry (and I'm a former dairy princess!), so it was an easy way to keep friends and others up to date on my transition from the corporate world to farm life. Here's the address...I'd love to hear what you think! www.californiacheesemaid.blogspot.com.
home cheesemakers
LittleFfarmDairy is a fantastic blog - Jo is a great writer upon many subjects, not just cheese. I was wondering if you know of any blogs by home cheese makers. I myself am just starting in on my new obsessive hobby in the confines of a one-bedroom apartment in SF. I write about my dumb cheese adventures on my blog at thechickendumpling.com. Anybody else out there trying to make nice cheeses for home use? - Thanks, N
the (wonderful) chicken dumpling!
Nora is being far too modest here! Her Blog is great: warm, witty, amusing, heartfelt & with some fascinating insights into her cheesemaking activities - as well as some superb more general recipes fostered by a real passion for local food. An excellent read, I'd highly recommend it - & feel very flattered by her kind comments on our dairy dalliances! And incidentally, her cheese notes are anything but 'dumb' - by sharing trials, tribulations AND her many successes, she's an inspiration to those who want to take the plunge on a small scale. Cheers aye, Jo.

I love reading the experiences and stories from the cheese makers. Thanks for the introduction to a couple of new ones.
